Wakaba Finchley Road NW3 5HT Wakaba is a really well hidden restaurant. I've lived around here for=20 most of my life and never really noticed it. Across from Finchley Road tube there is a large expanse of white-frosted=20 glass and a *very* small sign hanging by the doow with the name on. Inside there are well-spaced simple wooden tables and chairs with a=20 counter running along the back wall of the room. I've never been there when it is hugely busy, there is no music, just=20 very peacful and relaxing. The staff are great, unlike lots of restaurants they're there when you=20 need them. Whenever I go I always promise myself to have something other than sushi=20 but so far I haven't managed it. Partly because it is expensive as far=20 as sushi in london goes. I reckon the average that we spend per head is=20 somewhere around =A335-=A340 including beer/saki Because of the price I we normally go for one of their sushi sets and=20 then order around it to get some sashimi, edemame, sunomono and nigiri a=20 la carte. The saba and toro sashimi just rules my world and everything else is=20 comparable. A friend who doesn't eat fish (allergic so we let him off)=20 likes the place too so it's not just the sushi that's good. Tehy have a=20 huge range of dishes, most of which I don't understand (I haven't done=20 my homework on Japanese food per-se, I just know what I like when it=20 comes to sushi and am still experimenting) It's now somewhere we go to treat ourselves or to take visitors who want=20 to get into sushi since we're fairly confident that they won't have a=20 bad experience unless they just don't like sushi at all (some other=20 really nice places still let us down on occasion). If you like sushi and have a special reason for going out then spend=20 your money here, it's worth it. Mmm...want sushi now... N
