I saw the ever vibrant Keith Floyd do a (spanish I think) recipe which 
went a long the lines of

an amount (it looked like about 500 grams) finely chopped garlic
the same amount again of finely chopped sardines
olive oil
seasoning
about the same amount again of butter

you heat and the serve with raw vegetables and/or bread

Looked lovely. Guarantees that no-one will come near you for days.
