Someone gave me a hooky copy of the pilot episode of the TV program
loosely based on Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential
memoir-cum-expose.

I was dubious, skeptical and mildly afraid.

The basic premise is that Jack Bourdain was a rising star in thre
culinary world before blowing it in a storm of bad behaviour. Now he's
sober but works in a crappy Italian theme restaurant.

Until, that is, he gets a chance to reopen an menu-less
kitchen-staffless restaurant in 48 hours.

Predictably he stuffs it full of characters from his old life who are
trying to drag him off the wagon and the waiting staff are a bunch of
zany misfits. Of course hi-jinx ensue!

...

Ok, it's sounds awful but trust me, it's really not that bad at all.
Actually it turns out to be quite good. Colour me surprised.
