totally wrong.  it's ground up corn, like finer ground polenta or grits. 
much finer than grits, actually, but still a bit gritty.

corn flour is called corn starch in the states, oddly enough.

right, that's it, i'll just have to go and buy that masa harina and try 
it.  cook it up with some hoppin' john tonight if i feel motivated.
