I like Salter's "Microtronic" kitchen scale; it's 1g readable up to 1kg, 2g readable up to 2kg; or 1/8oz increments up to 5 lbs. <http://www.salteronline.com/tools/54017/>. I usually see it selling for around $30 (amazon.com has one for $27, e.g.) However, it appears grossly overpriced (=A329.97) at amazon.co.uk, so you might want to shop around, if the specs and picture catch your eye. It tares, of course, and auto-tares whatever is (bowl, e.g.) present when it's powered on (starts at 0g) It seems to be plenty accurate for my kitchen needs -- it produces th= e expected readouts for my test masses (100g, 200g, 500g; ASTM class 6)= . It's pretty responsive for small changes, e.g., measuring coffee beans, flour, etc. N.
